Dog Pet Bed:  What You Need To Know Before Buying

Every pampered pooch needs their very own dog pet bed. If you are a pet owner like me, you know that a dog pet bed is essential.   There are few things to consider before purchasing your dog pet bed. Dog Pet Bed  If you’re dog pet bed is going to be outside, you want to consider what type of materials is used and if they are durable. If your pet is an inside pet make sure you dog pet bed is washable.

A dog pet bed can become dirty quick and the life of your pet bed will depend if it can be cleaned and will it last through the washing machine. It is important to keep you dog pet bed smelling fresh in your house. Outside dog pet bed’s should be cleaned as well, so I believe that most important decision is finding a dog pet bed designed with the right material to suit your needs. Durable material will also prevent your dog from chewing on the bed or even tearing the stuffing out of the bed. Young puppies are teething and enjoy chewing everything in sight and that include their bed.

Choosing The Right Size Dog Bed For Your Pet

After finding the right material you should look for the right size and comfort for your dog. There are many different sizes for different breeds. Most dog like a bed that is not too big and is cozy. A toy poodle would not enjoy a dog pet bed that is designed for a lab. Look for the size that is perfect to your dogs breed. Next, look for a dog pet bed that is warm. If your dog has arthritis or achy joints, warm bedding is really important. If you live in a cold climate make sure your dog pet bed is warm. Some dog pet beds are designed as a cave for your dog to snuggle in for added warmth.

If you live in a warmer climate with hot summer months, you may consider a dog pet bed with a frame. These beds look like camping cots and they are designed to be low to the ground and let air circulate beneath them to keep your pet cool. They are great to keep pet odors from absorbing into your carpet. Just throw a blanket on the dog pet bed and your dog will sleep for hours. If your pet is outside this cot style bed will allow your dog to be off the ground in a cool dry place.

Some people prefer a designer dog pet bed. There are many styles and colors to choose from. You can purchase a bed that has different shapes such as a couch or a real bed with a headboard and frame. You can even get your dog’s name embroider on some dog pet beds. You will be able to pick a style that will compliment your home décor and a color that will go as well. With such a variety of dog pet beds to choose from, you are sure to find what is right for your pet. Your dog will love you for it and enjoy his or her own dog pet bed for years.

Question by Kristy: Our new dog hides under the bed from the kids all day?
She is a year old. We just got her and she is a datsun (sp?) eskimo mix. She is very sweet, but she is a very nervous dog. She came from an older disabled women who kept her outside in a kennel all day.

She is an inside dog now and seems to love it. The only thing is, she is pretty scared of our kids. It’s been 3 weeks now, and she still hides from them or runs away when they come toward her. She sits under the bed and if one of them run in too fast or jumps on the bed she barks and starts to shake with fear.

She only comes out from under the bed when I leave the room and she follows me and/or my husband around and is very playful and sweet with us.

The lady said she was never around kids, but my kids have tried to pet and play with her, but she just doesn’t warm up to them. She just barks and/or hides from them all day. What can I do to change this?

The dog may take awhile to adjust to her environment. Especially if she wasn’t socialized much as a puppy. She’s scared because kids tend to be a little louder then an elderly woman. It will just take time. For now just try to keep the kids calm around the dog while she adjusts to her new surroundings.

Kennel vs Dog Bed (where should my dog sleep)?

Question by : Kennel vs Dog Bed (where should my dog sleep)?
I have a 6 month Lab Mix (he’s a little bit of everything) that I adopted from the shelter. For the past couple of months he has slept in his kennel (good sized definitely large enough for him). Recently he has grown accustom to sleeping on his new pet bed and no longer likes going into his kennel (before the pet bed all I had to do was say kennel and he would run in). So should I just let him sleep on the pet bed or force him into the kennel?
-He’s not completely trained yet so the only downside i see to the dog bed
-His kennel is never used as punishment, only sleeping.
-He is potty trained (uses a bell to tell me to let him outside)

if you feel comfortable enough to give him run of the house, then its fine, but if hes still into everything or not completely trained, i wouldn’t

Is Dog Fur Good To Use As Bedding For Pet Mice?

Question by April: Is Dog Fur Good To Use As Bedding For Pet Mice?
I’ve used dog fur from my dog when she was shedding as bedding for a wild mouse that I rescued from my cat once, but I was just wondering if it would be ok to use dog fur for domestic mice, seeing as they’re raised different. I’d like to give them something other than just paper towels for bedding to keep them warm.

Hm.. I’m sure it’s probably fine. But we had a mouse and we gave it this cotton stuff that came in a bag.. he liked it and made little tunnels and stuff out of it

Question by Nicky: How much does it cost to buy all the things your dog needs? (Bed, food, bowls, bones, etc.)?
For the first day?

I’m an adult, and I think I found a dog I want to rescue. I just want a ballpark for how much to spend at the pet-store. What is reasonable?

What do I need to buy?

Best answer:

Answer by prettyxlush
At the petstore alone probably around $ 500, then to the vet in the next 48 hours, another $ 200. Keep some in the pocked for emergency vet visits too. My shelter expects a donation of at last $ 200 per dog, dnno about yours though.

You will need to buy a crate, a cage (if you want to leave the dog home alone and give it some space to roam before it has full house privileges), a leash or two, a collar or two, a long leash, pee pads if house training, doggie poop bags, a dog bed, food bowls, food, a brush, lots of toys, nail clippers, a harness, a dog tag, dog treats, training treats, dog shampoo,

and thats all I can think of now.

Question by pockybunny: What are the pros and cons with letting your pet sleep in your bed?
Like you know, your dog sleeping in your bed with you.
Or rabbit.
I’m just wondering.

They often carry bacteria in their coats. Even if you are not allergic, they are being connected to snoring. The pro is that you have something to help keep your tootsies warm, and also dogs can alarm you to danger long before you would probably wake up on your own
